What is O.S.C.A.R ... ?

O.S.C.A.R. is the Ohio Society Children of the American Revolution. C.A.R is the nation's oldest patriotic organization for youth. C.A.R. members learn about American history, preserve and restore historical places and artifacts, celebrate patriotic anniversaries, and participate in social activities such as dances, pool parties and pizza parties.

How can I join O.S.C.A.R. ... ?

Young people between the ages of birth and 21 years of age who are directly descended from individuals giving aid to the cause of American independence during the years 1775-1783 are eligible for C.A.R. membership.To inquire about applying for membership, please contact the webmaster at ohiocar@yahoo.com. Please mention the city in which you live.

What if I'm eligible for C.A.R. membership but my friends aren't ... ?

Invite them to attend meetings and events as your guest. Non-members are not permitted to vote or be a candidate for elective office, but they can serve in an appointed position such as a committee chairman and enjoy full participation in all other activities.

When are the meetings ... ?

O.S.C.A.R. has a board meeting in the summer, a conservation retreat program each October, a board meeting in January, and a State Conference in March. The State President also plans a program event in each quadrant of the state during the summer. Each local society sets its own meeting dates and places at the convenience of the members.

What is a PeeWee Patriot ... ?

A Peewee Patriot is a C.A.R. member under the age of ten.

Who are the Society's leaders ... ?

O.S.C.A.R. is governed by thirteen officers elected by the membership at the annual State Conference. Each member state officer has a corresponding adult or "senior" officer to act as a mentor while supervising his/her work.
